Most often a safety circuit has done its job and something has told the lift to stop. Repeated resetting hides the cause. It needs diagnosing.
Keep talking to them, use the alarm or emergency phone, and ring us saying the lift is occupied. Ring 999 if the person is unwell or distressed. Never force doors.
Intermittent is the stage to call. Trailing cables, connectors and switches rarely stay intermittent, and diagnosing one mid-fault is far quicker than after it dies.
This is a large part of what we do. Lifts written off as obsolete or waiting weeks on a part are worth a second opinion before anyone quotes a replacement.
A change in how a lift feels is the cheap stage. Left alone, worn components take other components with them.
Same-day callouts on weekdays, subject to where we are that morning. Gravesend, Dartford and the north Kent corridor are our fastest response areas because the workshop is at Meopham. We do not advertise 24/7 cover, because we do not offer it, and we would rather tell you that up front than at 9pm.
A callout covers attendance and diagnosis. Once we know what the fault is, you get a fixed price for the repair before we do it, including parts. If the sensible answer is to replace rather than repair, we will say so even though the repair pays us sooner. Nothing is charged that you have not agreed.
CommercialInverter replacement on a Barduva SB200 lift. The faulty inverter was removed, the new unit fitted and wired in, and a full calibration run completed before the lift was tested and returned to service.

CommercialFull gearbox replacement on a Motala MC2000 lift. After isolating the lift and securing it at the top floor, the motor and original gearbox were removed, all key surfaces cleaned and re-greased, and the new gearbox installed. The lift was rebuilt and tested on the same day.

ResidentialOverspeed governor (OSG) replacement and full service on an Acorn 180 stairlift at a private residence. A new OSG was installed alongside a complete clean of the pinion and the full roller assembly. The unit was tested and returned to operation the same afternoon.

Yes, and that is most of what we do. We work on Aritco, Cibes, Motala, Wessex, Stannah, Acorn, Barduva, Vimec, NAMI and more, whoever fitted them.
Keep talking to them and use the lift's alarm or emergency phone. Ring us on 01474 612019 and say the lift is occupied so we prioritise it. Ring 999 if the person is unwell or distressed. Do not force the doors or attempt manual lowering without training.
Usually. A well-made lift that has been serviced will normally take a new drive unit or control board and carry on for years. Replacement is a real conversation when parts for the model have genuinely stopped being made, not just because the lift is old.
The make and model off the data plate, any error code showing on the screen, and what the lift was doing when it stopped. A photo of the plate and the display tells us more than anything else you can give us.
Our callout service is weekdays. We would rather be straight about that than claim 24/7 cover we cannot properly staff as a specialist two-person business.
